The American Standard has been long respected for its word-for-word translation of the biblical text. It served as the basis for a number of commentaries written by members of the churches of Christ. In time, however, newer translations (such as the Revised Standard, New American Standard, New International Version, New King James Bible) came to dominate the market; this decreased the demand for the ASV. Consequently, this version ceased being printed. We are happy to make it available in HTML format for your study.
