Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus!

Bennie

My purpose for writing this letter has to do with one our orphans, a 15-year old boy, Bennie. Some two years ago Bennie sustained a simple fracture of his left leg and was taken to the local government hospital to have it set. The doctors made a terrible mess of what should have been a simple procedure and he was taken back to the hospital for another operation which did not turn out much better. Due to this criminal ineptitude of these doctors Bennie’s left leg is deformed and considerably shorter than his other leg and we are looking to raise funds for him to undergo reconstructive surgery which will probably have to be in the USA. This will obviously require considerable funds and we are approaching as many churches as possible to raise this money. If this is not done Bennie will go through life with a terrible physical handicap. Do you think Bellevue can help? Will you also extend this appeal to as many of the other churches in your area? We are looking at raising at least $5,000 to cover travel expenses.

I must add that one of the churches we visited during our recent trip to the US, the Hilldale church in Clarksville TN, responded almost immediately to our plea and indicated that they contacted an orthopedic surgeon who looked at the pictures we sent them and feels that he can help this young man and has offered his services free. Bennie will, however have to stay in the US for at least three months and because of his age and the language problem someone will have to travel with him for this operation and for the duration of the treatment and I have been designated for this task. We have since sent them the x-rays they requested and all indications that he can be helped.

Please let me know whether there is any way you can help.

Yours in Christ,

Jerry D’Alton
